This ingenious coffee briefcase makes carrying multiple hot drinks a breeze

A Mexico City product-development consultancy has come up with a new way to carry drinks that leaves the open-face four-cup carrier tray in the dust.

The Paper Pulp Delivery Briefcase by NOS Design is a thermoformed clamshell briefcase that opens to reveal three cup slots which can fit various-size drinks. The paper pulp compostable material used to make the briefcase insulates the beverage temperature, and the briefcase can carry as many as six stacked small drinks at once.

The lightweight briefcase design makes transporting multiple drinks far more secure and convenient than the four-cup carrier tray that you wouldn’t trust to leave unsecured in the passenger seat of your car while driving. The briefcase snaps shut to keep drinks secure, there’s a built-in handle to hold it, and NOS imagined an extra layer of security in the form of a branded sticker, which can tape the handle shut while showing off a coffee shop or restaurant logo.

The rise of food delivery has led to a rise in single-use packaging for delivery, and NOS sees its delivery briefcase as a solution for cutting down on waste by its ability to be used for multiple orders by couriers and delivery companies. Once a briefcase no longer has its integrity for secure and stable use, it can be recycled or composted.

Beverage makers have recently turned to paperboard and cardboard carriers for selling multipacks of soda and alcohol without plastic rings, and coffee could definitely benefit from its own more environmentally conscious packaging that can securely carry multiple cups at once. To that end, this briefcase may be just the thing.
